I say no, it's a form of plastic. Eventually it 'may' degrade, but why bother, just remove it.

Often cardboard boxes are held together with glue that doesn't really break down, so you end up with smallish pieces of what apears to be plastic tabs in your finished castings.

Simple way to remove the tape is to get the box damp, then wait a bit and the tape peels off really easy.

Remove it now or remove it later.
Now is easier.
