Be careful of what kinds of vines are used. Many can cause some serious problems for the tree once the vine begins to mature.

Please explain. Which vines cause what problems?

Ivy can strangle a tree and turn up all over the place. In my opinion it's just a smaller version of kudzu! Hydrangea vine is another. Trumpet vine is awful too. I'm sure there are others but I can't think off the top of my head. You could google "invasive vines" or google any individual vine that you might consider planting. Good luck.

I have so many grape cuttings that lived through the propagation process, I'm thinking of training a few on our palm trees. Those trunks are pure boring, and I tried roses, but they don't really climb.

Grape Vines have these cute little tendrils (no thorns)that latch onto anything (don't linger long next to one or they will attach to your shirt), beautiful green leaves (edible and used to make Greek Dolmadas), and amazing fruit (for wine or eating) if pruned properly. I'm not sure if a grape could survive with the network of previously established roots of the Queen Palm her sweet self!!

I'm willing to try! What vines did you decide to use?
