worms can get pretty big under good conditions, you're not breeding mutants, and "organic" for a worm means food waste, no difference in the way it was grown - give the big ones a retirement party and turf'em out in the garden if they bother you - harvest some of the finished compost, and get back to a level of population that can consume the amount you're feeding - and learn to love the big ones, they're no different than the small ones, they don't bite!!

This is probably a dumb question but here it goes:

Won't the red worms eat the plants if you let them out in the garden? I thought that the dirt worms which are already there ate the little critters from the dirt. On the other hand, the red ones have to be fed vegetables and stuff.

The worms won't eat your plants unless your plants are dead and rotting. Worms feed on the micro organisms that are present in the plant decay and the worms feed on those.
