I started a row of 6 table grapes about two months ago. They're alternating Red Flame and Thompson Seedless and so far are doing well. I'm growing them on a two wire trellis system and trying to decide which cordons to keep for the first wire. In the attached picture, you'll see one of the Red Flames with a longer shoot that is lower on the trunk. I'd like to prune it off. Do you think the remaining shoot that is closer to the wire, but shorter would start growing well in its place?
