I opened my can o worms, concerned about the sudden heat spell, and thought they were all dead. What's usually a squirming mass of wormanity was still, still, still. Then I thought, hmmm. No bodies. I lifted the tray, and there it was, the whole mass in the collection tray. I took the lid off to cool things down and added some food under the top layer to tempt them to return. I put the lid on when it cooled off. This morning I went out to remove the lid - no worms. Yep; they're still in the collection bin. BUT the food is *completely* gone (it was a good couple of hands full of chopped honeydew rind). They must have come up in the night and eaten like mad.

Should I worry about this, or just let them alone?

I'm thinking of putting on a second tray. The first isn't finished yet, but a layer of soil and newspaper might help keep the lower tray cool. Also, it seems to me that the baby worms are crawling up onto the underside of the lid and dying - a lot - so maybe this would give them somewhere to go?
