No, this is an annual will last till frost. Mine climbed up into my huge 80 year old Dogwood....only had blooms in area where it was touched by the sun....must have climbed 20 feet. was an experience removing the following Spring. enjoy! its a beauty.

i am only trying this plant for the first time this year ( a rescue) as a victim of a high wind hanging basket incident deeming it unsalable). However, I'm told (warned actually by someone with previous experience) it is a hardy and allegedly aggressive biennial.

This person expressed regret for having planted it. The comment was corroborated by one other person standing nearby.... we'll see.

You must be thinking of a different plant. Black Eyed Susan vine (Thunbergia alata) is an annual outside of frost free climates and a perennial in a tropical climate. Defitinely not a biennial. I grow it every year and it's never even re-seeded on it's own. The seeds don't survive the winter.
