Green puss from worms...yuck!

Hi

I have just found a few 'escapees' underneath my wormery (I've had a a problem recently with the wormery being too damp) and one seemed to be secreting green puss! It was moving fine and seemed lively enough though. Can anyone shed any light on what the puss is or why the worm would sectrete it?

Sounds like coleomic fluid was being secreted by the worm. They will release this fluid sometimes in an attempt to stay moist.

If your worms are EFs, then this green pus (Mine seem more yellowish) is quite natural. This is their defence mechanism. The pus is supposed to be bitter and bad tasting. Makes anything picking them up (like a bird etc) drop them.
