Deer problems?

I'm thinking of growing morning glory (Heavenly Blue) on a fence. The fence was put there to keep out the deer. The deer will eat everything that sticks outside the fence, which would be facing east. I suspect the vines will "reach" toward the east and go through and over the fence, right? Do the flowers always face east? If so, I will never see them anyway. Am I wasting my seeds?

The second choice for placement is on a southeast facing wall (on a trellis) but it will likely get the fertilizer and water from DH's lawn, resulting in fewer flowers?

The only other choice is on the deck in planters, but it gets quite hot there, also facing southeast. Not my first choice, but I really want to grow them somewhere!
