I'm not sure from your post if this is your first time with worms.

Add some food to the bin so it can decompose over a few days so the worms can have some food readily available to them. Even if it's a newly-harvested bin, I always have my bedding mixed with food a few days before the worms go in.

I've added pumpkin and bad rice with some leaves and plant parts a week plus before, so it's a half finished compost pile.
Yeah this is my first time too...but I've comeposted for months and weeks...jsut regular compost no worms.
