Please help with vine identification....

I was cutting back a lilac bush that was VERY overgrown. I didn't realize it until too late that I had cut through a woody vine. It is a flowering vine with flowers that look like tiny blue shooting stars (the wildflower). I didn't get a picture of the flowers. The vine is beginning to grow back from the base. The leaves look very much like lilac leaves but softer. Do you have any ideas?

Sounds more like Solanum dulcamara, or 'Climbing Nightshade'. Does it bear fruit, or can you tell yet?

Judithw - I am almost sure that is it! Where is the right place for this vine to be planted?

i planted morning glory seeds last year and they grew but never produced flowers. this leads me to believe that they are not morning glory's at all. I really am not sure. This year they came up as far away as twenty feet. The big ones are strong and when i pull the little ones up they seem to be connected together. also the roots are red. Are these morning glory's or something more sinister such as a weed?
