Mine did not bloom at all in its first year, but bloomed a little this summer. The same goes for my neighbor's vines (also planted last year).

Hopefully your vine will buck the trend, though, and bloom this year!

It depends on what type of passion vine. Can you elaborate on the exact variety?

Usually my passion vines have bloomed in the first year. However, Alata, edulis, sometimes grandiflora... these usually do not bloom until the 2nd or 3rd year....

As far as the blooms... if you have a variety that is likely to bloom in it's first year, I would pinch off the ends of all the shoots growing out. This will force it to start new growth. DO NOT WORRY... THIS WILL BE QUICK, within a day or so, many new shoots will come out of the main ones. THESE are usually the ones with the buds. The way they grow, they will send out about 3 feet of growth with buds near EACH leaf. Once the first buds reach maturity and begin blooming, the branch will stop growing until all the buds have bloomed, and then it will start again.

If you do NOT see the buds as the growth begins, let it grow a foot or so, and snip it again.

Hope this helps.....
