Why not trade them (here on the vines forum AND in the seed trading forum) for some seed types that you would like to try?

I have sent some out to people on GW and probably should post on the seed exchange. I honestly hadn't though about that, thanks. I would like to know if they are still viable when dried. If not then I'd better start getting rid of them soon!

I'm so glad to hear that they germinated. The ones I put in a couple weeks ago haven't germinated but I think the trays I had them in got too much water. We had the remnants of Ernesto dump several inches of water over a few days and the trays didn't drain well. I just potted some more up today. I'm hoping those will grow.

I'm not sure what you mean by fresh seed. Do you mean green seed? Seeds need to remain on the plant until they turn brown and then it's time to gather them for storing, trading or reseeding. I've started many A Fimbriata vines this way. Hope this helps.

By fresh I mean just when they have ripend, when the seed pod splits open. Can they be dried and stored for planting in the spring?

Okay-when the pod splits the seeds are ready to harvest. I let my freshly harvested seeds sit on a paper plate to dry. I don't bring them in the house right away though because sometimes there are tiny bugs I don't notice, on them. I use small zip lock style bags for seed storage. Envelopes work nicely also. Just be sure to mark whatever you choose to store them in so you know what you have when spring rolls around!
