Possibly my very last post

A very prim and proper silver haired lady goes into an Orvis Sporting Goods store to buy a rod and reel for her grandson's birthday.

Not having any idea about what she wants or which one to get, she just grabs one and takes it over to the sales counter.

The salesman is standing behind the counter and wearing very dark glasses.

She says, "Excuse me. Can you tell me any thing about this rod and reel?"

He says, "Madam, I'm completely blind, but, if you'll be good enough to drop it on the counter, I will be happy to tell you everything you want to know about it by the sound it makes when it hits."

She doesn't believe a word of this, but, decides to humor the guy and drop it on the counter, anyway.

He says, "That's a six-foot Shakespear 96% graphite modulus rod with a 404 Zebco reel loaded with 10 lb. test line. It's a very good all-purpose rod and reel and it is on sale this week for $44.00.

She says, "It's amazing that you can tell all that just by the sound of it dropping on the counter!" "I'll take it!"

As she opens her purse, her credit card falls to the floor and the salesman says "Oh, that sounds like a Platinium Visa Card! I assume you prefer to charge the item?"

"Why yes, it is a Visa card and yes, I would like to charge it." says the lady.

So, as she bends down to pick up her card she accidentally passes gas.

At first she is really embarrassed but then realizes there is no way the salesman could know it was her that vented to the atmosphere.

The salesman rings up the sale and says, "Madam, that will be $58.50, please."

The lady immediately gets upset and loudly asks, "Didn't you tell me it was on sale for $44.00? How in the world did you get the total of $58.50?"

The salesman promptly replies, "Yes, Madam, indeed, the rod and reel is $44.00, but the duck call is $11.00 and the stink bait is $3.50."
