Hi apprye; That is not a Eisenia fetida I don't believe. The clitellum(ring) is to far toward the anterior(head end). I am not a taxinomist by any strech but the pic says its too far forward. Efs start on 24th-26th segment and is yellow. It is also lacking the yellow tip tail. Really need a clearer picture.

I think what you got is a night crawler that is half way through shucking off an egg case.

The clitellum forms around a worm for mating. Worm eggs are deposited inside then it forms an outer shell that moves up the body until it comes off and is deposited in the bedding.

Oh.. Guess it's a night crawler.. Think I've gotta buy the EFs from the supplier then... The crappy thing is that the sale of EFs are banned in where I stay... :(

Hi All; I think after some resurch I found a description that fits the short distance from anterior to clitellum and the name is Sparganophilus eiseni(source "Earthworm of New York State"). A link below to a taxinomic chart on page two its a Adobe reader.
