Jade vine

Hi. I am new to this forum and i like to ask if someone has any fresh seeds of strongylodon or tiny rooted cuttings that might want to trade. Ask whatever plant you might want. I live on Madeira island (Prtugal) and i have seen and grown many tropical plants, but unfortunately the jade vine is rare. Only two places have it : An hotel (Reid's) and an old lady who lives in a small farm. Both of the plants are somehow old. But i never saw them. These two people do not want to trade or sell, fearing this species to become too comon (they are very envious). Here tropical vines and plants are too common except that one. I love the jade vine, and want to teach these people a lesson by propagating and spreading it throughout my island so anybody can admire their flowers and colour, because it is unfair to hide from people such pretty plants. So please help me. This is good for the species by increasing it number of specimens. Forgive me my bad english.

Peace out

Jin

Jin, when people act like that, is when I take my clippers and do a little 'night-time' clipping!

I would simply go to that hotel (the managers don't 'OWN' this place), get a cup of coffee, sit right down beside the vine, and clip away. That's just ME and what I would do, but I don't have a problem with swiping cuttings!

I am always very careful not to injure the plant, and don't recommend this method for the timid gardener!

Kayjones I'm glad that I'm not the only one.lol I wouldn't do it from someone's yard but have taken cuttings from parks and such. I took the kids to Hershey Park, Pa last month and came home with about 30 different seeds and cuttings.

Jin there is a nursery that sells the Jade vine. For some reason you can't post it's name on GW. If you want you can email me directly through GW at the top of my post.

Yes i wish i could just clip a little branch but i can't. I never entered that hotel and i dont know that rancid and envious old woman. So my last alternative is to buy one over the net. But one thing i can assure you, NOBODY will stop me to reach my targets and one day i will have that vine. Not even our botanical garden has one... Just to u see how deep their envy can be. If i was them i simply donated a specimen for public exhibitions, but they dont...

Well thanks for the help anyway...
