My most affordable and available source of bedding for my new worms is shredded newspaper. But how much is needed? I'm using 18 Gal Rubbermaid bin with holes drilled upper sides and bottom, nested in another 18 gal rubbermaid for drip factor.

I only have a couple hundred or so worms, so I don't want to overdo it, but since my rubbermaids are so large, they aren't filled very deep with bedding, say 1/5th maybe.

I've seen calculators and such for cubic feet needed for container size...blah...blah...blah, but bottom line, how deep should the bedding be? (given that it depends on the number of worms etc, I know guesses may vary)
