Try other brands of weed killer.
I hope some manager of an arboretum, or farmer using chemicals to kill bindweed responds to you. I think, though, you are dealing with Ipomea quamaclit.
Your local ag agent might have ideas.
I tried a product, supposedly for repelling deer and rabbits, and I lost plants.
It was supposed to repel all, and showed little images of them, but I sprayed my most valued plants, and those were the ones lost. Soft, rapidly growing foliage succumbed more than any other.

Thanks for the reply bogturtle. Sorry to hear about your plants. I have used deer off and so far it has not harmed any of my plants. The deer do stay away too. Good idea calling the ag office thanks again.

Cypress vine is a common name and could potentially refer to any number of different plants.

Do you have any photos that you can post to show your infestation ?

Ipomoea quamoclit is called Cypress Vine and is an annual and does not produce any type of perennial root.

The annual Morning Glories can be removed by cutting the vine below the embryonic leaves with a hand held cutter or a lawn mower set to cut the closest to the ground.

The annuals can surely be kept from producing many seeds if kept cut very short and even if it takes a couple years to get all of the plants, eventually , they can be removed.

Hi Ron,
Been busy tearing down those vines. They are in fact ipomoea quamoclit. I don't have any photos but they had climbed up the pole of two martin houses, are spreading into the neighbors grass as well as mine. Have managed to jump all the way to the front yard climbed up a 12ft lattice covered 2 panels and started going for the top of the house and electric lines. I will follow your advice on keeping them cut low next year and hopefully this will help get it under control.

The boomerang shaped leaves are the cotyledons (embryonic leaves) and if the plants are cut below the cotyledons , they will not continue to grow.
