I've used leaves in bedding and found that the woody bits of the leaves last a long, long time in the bin. Now I use cardboard when I first set up a bin then paper after that.

I use leaves in my outdoor bins regularly. I pack them in one end in the late fall and it insulates very well. In the spring there is pretty much nothing left of them. It would depend on what your objective is whether you use them or not. I use the VC for my garden and make tea for my plants.

I always use shredded leaves mixed with peat moss, 2/3 of the mix is leaves. I figure leaves have more nutrients than paper or cardboard. And I always have loads of leaves and am looking for ways to use them.
