My question is thus: will they eat my food scraps? I'm living in Bavaria for this year (I'm from Oregon where, partly due from missing my boyfriend, his chickens, and his compost heap, I decided to start a worm bin under my sink and bought a little plastic container of worms (only 18 of them!) from a fishing store... They said there that they'd eat fruit and veggie leftovers, but I actually don't know what kind of worms they are... I have them in a cardboard box with holes and moist newspaper and leaves and a bit of dirt and some minced fruit leftovers... This is only since yesterday actually, so maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but I'm really excited. I've read a few posts about really quickly wiggling worms being a particular kind of worm--these don't wiggle very quickly, tho it could be since i had them in the fridge... they're darker on one end and lighter on the other... sorta brownish... and dare I say actually a bit cute? I just picked one out of the compost to look at just now and he?she? whatever looked sorta happy haha, I sound nuts! Anyway, I read somewhere they can eat half their weight in scraps per day, so that's just a wee bit with just 18 worms, right? (well actually the package said 18 worms--I'm not really sure)--a package about the size of the little containers of cream cheese for those of you in the states. Oh, if anyone speaks german and knows their worms, they're "Naturwurme" or "Laubwurme" (one or the other might actually just be the brand name--so "nature worms" or "foliage worms")... Anyway, sorry this is so rambling! Thanks for any answer!
