The better the variety of food for your pets, the better the resulting compost. They're only critters, but would you want to eat just one thing every day?

If you have difficulty creating enough tasty morsels for your herd, see if your local food store will give you a box of produce scraps.
I can get all I can use from my store.

Don't forget, if and when you do have a excess amount of food, it can be frozen till you need it.

My worms mostly get coffee grounds. With just a small amount of leftovers each week.

You do have to be careful when adding grain type foods they heat up. So small amounts of the pasta.

If you do a Search on coffee or UCG (used coffee grounds) in this forum, you will find quite a lot of discussion on the subject. The biggest problem that I have found when using only UCGs is the clumping and crusting, which lead to mold. Mixing it with other foodstuffs has worked much better. Both the UCGs and paper filters take so long to break down that daily additions may overwhelm your WF.

Remember the wormers mantra: Moderation. Diversity. Patience.

Check your local supermarket for old fruit sales. Mine, Harris Teeter, always has old produce bagged for a dollar. I general use it to make banana bread but it could become worm food.

I agree with the others, I do not think all coffee would be a good thing.

Used coffee grounds is pretty much all I feed my worms. One used espresso puck every other week or so. They seem to also be consuming the damp paper towels I give them for bedding. And they are thriving!
The rest of the coffee goes into my 55-gallon compost bin.
