The mildewy smell is common to newer bins and usually disappears as the system matures.

Congratulations! I'm glad for you, and I share your excitement. I set up my bin at the beginning of October and my population is skyrocketing. Isn't it exciting to see the egg capsules and babies?!

Congratulations. I am still having no luck at being a Gwormmother again (that's what my son called me when I got overly excited at finding babies in my worm bin last year. Seems so long ago). My current batch of worms are efficient composters, but very inefficient reproducers. Sigh!

Goodness...I took that course too but haven't really looked at the worms too much. I wonder if I have babies too. I think I'll go look!

I have babies too........boy are there alot of worms in there now! Mine have been making lots of babies and the adults have really grown too. They must like fruit because that's what I've been giving them mostly.

Yes, there do seem to be lots more than when I got them. They also go nuts over cucumber!
