That's a really good question at this time of year. I remember reading somewhere that glossy printed paper produced worms with variations in color. But I'm still wary about it.

And what about that tissue paper that is printed with designs or metallic ink? Might we get glittery worms for New Year's Eve? :-)

I know that my recycling center only takes wrapping and tissue paper this time of year, citing that it's difficult and expensive to recycle it. They claim it to be mostly dyes and very little fiber.

I think I have put tissue paper in my bin with no problems, but I haven't put wrapping paper in.

Thanks, I wrapped up some yummy kitchen scraps with some gift tissue paper (white only)....my special Christmas present for my worms.

I realize this post is way too late, but I just had to comment... When using paper for bedding, everything I read strongly urges that only the B&W newspaper & computer papers be used; colored inks are more likely to be composed of harmful chemicals. Wrapping paper even more so--I saw a TV ad just before Christmas warning folks not to burn wrapping paper in the fireplace. Not only is it dangerous because of the intense (albeit brief) flareup that results (and may start a chimney fire) but because of the chemicals. People like the colorful flames, but the chemicals responsible also may release harmful fumes into the air.
So I sure would not want to use anything like that for MY herd--and definitely would avoid metallic papers!!! Just my opinion... CK
