Still hunting the elusive 'Baby Blue' or 'Wilsley Blue' tasmanian violet. Probably not a true violet. The scientific name may be changed.
Will check back from time to time. Also posting this in 'Perennials' forum. The normal form has light flowers with a purple center, Wilsley Blue is an even light violet blue.
Good choice ! ;oP Viola Hederacea is supposed to be called banskii now. But if you're looking for it, you have a better change keeping hederacea name :-)
You always come up with the answers. No wonder people seek out your opinions. I will continue to look for a source, here in the USA. I asked for one from 'The Glasshouse', a commercial source here, but they sent me the normal clone. I never complained to them and enjoyed growing that plant but did not keep it through the Winter. Thanks again.
Hi! I grow it in france and have a good stock this year...I can send you a seed packet..they will soon arrive during summer..(give me your postmail address..)
I had never heard before about its other name:'Wilsley Blue'.Any explanations?
This violet was difficult for me for many years but now it seems it is ok. Actually I think I gave it too many cares. It seems to be quite resistant and no so tender ( at least under our climate ;-)!!) Germination occurs spontaneously and this helped me to rescue it time to time... I divide and repot it very often...
'Baby Blue' is even in the Sunset WESTERN GARDEN BOOK so there must have been at least some domestic availability at one time. Online RHS Plant Finder lists only one UK source. Presumably the other name is 'Wisley Blue', after the RHS garden but cannot confirm that spelling either.
