what herbicide on ivy?

any recommendations on what herbicide to use on ivy? I planted a bunch of different kinds of ivy to cover a wire fence for more privacy from my neighbor but it only spread on the ground and refuses to be trained on the fence. I want to eradicate it before I plant a new choice.

If you want it on the fence, you need to train it -- pick up the vines and weave them on the fence.
