Tomato tragedy!

I bought a Mortgage Lifter plant at the Master Gardener plant sale in May. That's the one that makes the huge, 2 pounders. It is producing exceptionally well, as are all my plant sale tomatoes. It has about a dozen tomatoes on it.

This is my first year of success with tomatoes, and I am trying to figure out how to manage the weight of all these fruits. I have them set up on a teepee made of three sturdy stakes bound together, which I tie the vines to with stretchy bits of cloth. When I went out this morning, the mortgage lifter vine had collapsed! And when I was trying to fix the supports for the vine, the junction of the two main branches coming off the main "trunk", split the trunk down the middle ~2 inches. Is there anything I can do to help the split heal? Should I prune the plant back? Is this the end of my beautiful tomato plant? Or is this something that will heal on its own?

I sprayed it with my antifungal of choice (garlic), could I now wrap the wound with grafting tape or something? What do you think?
