weeds in lawn

i have weeds growing now (end of march). vigaro has a weed and feed lawn product that takes care of weeds other than crabgrass. but then I can't plant grass seed. which to do first? the seed probably wouldn't start til the soil warms up a bit by which time the weeds have taken over my universe. any adivce?

Letting us know what kind of weeds is important. If you mean that you have a lot of broad leaf weeds, you can use a post emergent broad leaf weed killer, sprayed safely over the top of grasses. Weed ID is important in proper herbicide application. Forget the weed and feed application if weeds are already emerging.

i think chickweed and one with purple flowers that clumps. does that help?
