In memoriam--Sara Stein

I just read in the newspaper that Sara Stein died at her home in Maine (she writes about Vinalhaven in both her Noah's Garden books). If you haven't read Noah's Garden and Planting Noah's Garden, do so AT ONCE. And honor the memory of this inspired writer and teacher by paying heed to the principles she espoused.

Sorry to here that Elaine. I bought her first book on your recomendation to be honest I haven't read it yet but I promise you as soon as I finish the book I'm reading now I will read hers. Was she very old? I haven't read Rachel Carson's book either. But since I have Sarah Steins book I will definatly read it. Sorry about that. Sarah

Elaine: Thanks for letting us know. I'm glad that her philosophy will live on through her books. I also bought the books on your advice.

The Wild Ones organization has some information on Sara Stein; an introduction and a link to "A Conversation with Sara Stein". It seems quite appropiate that she is sitting on an Aldo Leopold bench for the conversation. It is comforting to know that her message will live on through her books.

oh no, I hadn't heard. The world has lost a visionary and a true friend to nature. It is our loss.

I hope her books will require reprints often over the years.

"Noah's Garden" not only has good and inspiring information--it was easy and enjoyable reading.
