Weeds from next door

So, the house next door has been empty for the past 3 years. The yard is nothing but dandelions and creeping charlie (ground ivy). Last year I sprayed Round Up along the common fence (on their side, my side is a flower garden), but charlie is tenacious. Is there anything I can use that will permanently kill everything along the fence?

Nope. Not even the glyphosate products will permanantly kill anything, and research at Iowa State University is telling us that many "weeds" are developing immunities to many of the "weed killers" out there. Dandelions produce prodidious amounts of seed as does Creeping Charlie and that is how these spread around for the most part. Birds also eat the seeds produced by many "weeds" and plant them as they fly over your yard.

I don't think anybody will be bothered if you mow that yard before more ripe seeds are produced. A barrier between the fence and your garden would help stop "creeping" but seeds will still be an issue.
