That's funny. Just around this same time last year (or was it the year before), a very big flock "processioned" over our house (immediate North of Montreal, Qc) to land and rest a while in the ornamental trees of a typical suburbia place, further East. The passer-bys were staring up at those strange black "eagles" flying around...

I've counted up to 13 around the field near my house in Central Mass. It's rare I see that I see more than 5 or 6 together though.

In Florida last year we counted 75+ in the air together.

I went to Hawk Mountain Research web site. Received great responses from them. The swarming, called "flocking" is normal "pre-migration" activity. Our Ajo, Arizona Turkey vultures apparently "winter" in Mexico as Hawk Mountain tags and follows the birds. Kinda spooky to see a few perched in your front yard.

You are all so lucy. We tried to save the ones that were fleeing from a red fox. He got them one-by-one.
