In my experience, the seedlings will cause a rash.

when I find a seedling or a tiny patch, I place a small twig (12-18") in the ground, to mark the spot and easily find it again when I get back over there.

I've tried the stick method, but the available sticks on the lawn always seem to break on implant, and are too short. Guess I should gather up some larger ones before I set out on my weed hunts.

The thread was fun to read. Fortunately, my seedlings have very short root systems so I've had minimal contact, and still no rash, thank goodness. I've just learned to beware of "leaves of two" as well because that's how they start out, quite a surprise to me.

Each year I usually find a few seedlings in the yard, but this year has been amazing.
