Heh, I didn't realize parsnip sap caused burning- you learn something new every day. It often grows with an even more (ob)noxious weed... poison hemlock. Anyway, it's unclear whether parsnip is a biennial or a perennial. If a biennial, it seems like keeping after it with a mower for 2years would be the end of it. Barring that, chemical control w/roundup or dicamba is probably going to be your best option. Pretty sure that's how the crop management people deal with it.

Parsnip causes blistering when skin that has come into contact with the mature plant is exposed to sunlight. It is like a severe sunburn or sun poisoning. Link below goes to photos of my last encounter with this nasty weed.

We resorted to a $2000 brush cutting machine to reclaim our pasture. We have to cut the field 2 to 3 times annually to keep up.

Spedigress: My burns were like yours, only all over my legs. Made the mistake of having shorts on. I wanted to let people know that weed-b-gone max killed the parsnip but left everything else in good shape. I was using Roundup but that was killing everything. I'm going to be using more weed-b-gone this year.

I wish the 2-4-D did the trick on parsnips. It looked like it would, but it just curled them up. They still flowered and seeded, but didn't stick up over the long grass where they could be seen easily. Back to glyphosate for me. It killed them brown in a week. Has anyone tried using a rubber glove with a cotton glove over it, then spray the cotton glove and wipe the plant? I have not done that yet, but might be a way to apply roundup without leaving the big scorch mark.
