I have heard of a castor bean tree and also a hyacinth bean vine. Do you have hyacinth bean vine? The seeds look like little Oreo cookies. Here is a photo of one.

I do!! I grow both a white and a purple Hyacinth bean and a red and green castor bean.. I recieved some seed from a friend New Zealand Purple Castor Bean.. I can hardly wait for them to bloom the pics are beautiful... This vine has me wonderin just what the heck it is...LOL

I don't think it's a vine..they get about 8 feet tall...and are poisonous..do not allow to be ingested...Ricin...Jeanne

Castor bean, is EXTREMELY poisonous. (I read that it is one of the most poisonous plants on earth.)

The seeds are the worst part.

Please be very careful with this plant if any children are present.

If I had small children, I would not grow this in my yard.

It is a beautiful plant and fast growing. It's toxicity supposedly kills aphids, japanese beetles and stuff like that.

I've also heard that it might get rid of some rodents.
