Weed that looks like giant clover?

I have a weed coming up in some unplanted areas and one or two thin spots in my lawn that started out looking like clover, but quickly grew leaves much larger than any clover I've seen. The leaves are easily two inches across. They are green with some lighter bits on them, and have a traditional clover shape to them.

I can get a picture if I need to, but does anyone recognize this by a description?

Hmmm. Can you eat it? (I'm trying to find weeds that we can use, since we have so many of them!!)
