Need Weed/Plant ID Please! Pic link included

Hi-

I have 3 plants that I need help identifying.

The first one is a small shrub-like plant w/ small yellow flowers. Foliage is a blue-green. Not the most attractive plant.

The second is a tough leaved plant w/ tiny stickers covering the leaves and is topped by small purple flowers (in the pics, they're close to opening). I transplanted this in the fall and where I removed it, small plants are reappearing. It gets big...

The third is a bed of something that just took off like crazy. I'm thinking this is a weed, but would like to know before I yank them. Maybe something from the bird feeder? It hasn't flowered yet, but I want to ID it before it does and goes to seed.

Hello terriberry in Ohio,

Plant number 1 is probably some type of rue (Ruta species). Crush the leaves and see if they have a very strong, distinctive odor. If they do, then the plant is almost certainly a species of rue.

Plant number 2 (the tough-leaved plant with small purple flowers) is very likely a comfrey of some sort (Symphytum species).

Without flowers, it is very hard to say what plant number 3 is although my best guess is that it is something in the daisy family. However, flowers are needed to confirm its identity.

I'm going to let 1 and 2 live, since I think you're right on the ID. The comfrey should be a good plant to share since where I moved the plants from, many babies have sprouted.
I will keep an eye out for the flowers on the 3rd plant and if they are in the daisy family, they may escape the compost pile as well....
