Can CWD pass on to those who eat the meat? Are you a hunter?

They (authorities) say no, people don't get wasting disease. I'm not so sure I believe that. It is related to mad cow disease. But for the record I guess there are no cases of people becoming infected with it. Until now most cases were located in the western states. Wasting disease was found in Oneida N.Y. in domesticated herds of deer raised for meat and yes some of the deer from the group that had the illness were eaten. The fear is that wild deer may have come into contact with these ill animals and spread the illness among the wild population. Fences don't necessarily keep deer out or in.
I sit and watch the deer frolic in my backyard in upstate N.Y. every day. It would be a shame if this illness were to come here. Oneida's not that far away.
