Vinegar, of the proper strength, not just the 3 to 5 percent stuff you use everyday in your kitchen, applied while the sun is brightest and hottest can kill the foliage you see of those plants you do not want.
If you wish to use some you need to find something in the 20 percent acetic acid variety.
