Weeds or not?

Hello,

I am very new to any kind of gardening or lawn care. I just moved into a house and would like to keep the yard looking nice and not kill any of the intentional plants, but I'm not sure if some are weeds or not.

Any advice on what these pictures could be?

Hi & welcome to Gardenweb. Good job posting the link. We've all wished for an edit feature! Sorry I don't know what they are, but somebody will. There's also a "name that plant" forum you can use if no answer is found here.

I'm also considering posting in the Utah gardening section. That might help someone identify the suspicious plants... maybe I should have mentioned that I'm in the Salt Lake area of Utah.

You're welcome. Knowing the location is always good. I'll guess since nobody has suggested anything.

The bottom one could be Lunaria or Hesperis matronalis.

Could the top be peppers - bell, banana, jalapeno?

Top one looks like Oenothera biennis. Also suggested on NTP.

Bottom could be Hesperis matronalis.
