I've scoured the net, but I can't find anything describing what I have. My wife seems to think it may be spider egg's...but basically, they are these green balls that grow anywhere on my oak tree leaves. There is only 1 per leaf, and it can get to almost an inch in diameter in size. When I was mowing the lawn the other day I noticed 2-3 of them were lying on the ground, separated from the leaf. At first I thought they were weird green oak berries or something (I'm a city guy at his first country home), but when I saw them growing ON an oak tree leaf, I figured it can't be a good thing.

When you open them up, it looks like a ton of straight white strands from the shell to a little tiny white oval growth in the middle that is suspended from it. Looks straight out of science fiction...Unfortunately, I can't find my camera, but if I can, I'll take pictures.

Any ideas though on ID'ing? Also, anything I should do about it? I can't reach the top of the tree obviously....too high....
