I love them too. They always come back to our woods the first week in May and I just stand there and smile when I hear them for the first time each spring.

Wood thrush is kind of a mythical bird for me. This sp. I have simply never seen and heard anywhere else than in a sugar maple grove, in a quiet rural area up North from Montreal, Qc. I used to bike there a lot and always heard it piping and ringing up in the canopy, a seemingly lonely voice of the summer dusk.
I agree that it is the most beautiful song!
Although there is something to be said about the one of the Olive-backed thrush, when heard coming off spruce stands besides a Laurentian lake on a misty day!
