Good luck organizing Queen Anne's Lace. That'll be the ONLY plant you have after a while. Besides it is considered a noxious weed in Michigan....listed as Wild Carrot (Daucus carrota).

PuffTrinket, be careful. This could turn into a nightmare, I don't know how you can get these guys to "organize". If you like them I guess you can just let it go and see what happens but trying to get them to take a shape could be very tough.

OK, OK, no invasives for me. but, what will I ever do with my riverbank? :-)

You might consider adding more native plants for the natural look you like, or things that would be attractive while not outcompeting everything else.

Our climates are too different for me to try to make suggestions for things that would thrive in sometimes standing water...

I have, actually. Just an update. I'm over it. I have moved on to simply liking garden thugs, now. :-)

So, when I started posting last year someone suggested that my gardening tastes might "mature" with my experience. It was one of the best suggestions I've heard on here- gentle, wise, helpful, and correct. Some threads, I have noticed, are a bit intense. I have learned to avoid those. but, I did think I'd send out a little note to y'all, letting you know what I've been up to.

I've been doing lots of reading on natives, and even attended a workshop. I also have made a commitment to avoid plants listed as invasive as much as possible. I know I can do better in the future.

So now, as a gardener, I have grown a great deal. I know how important soil is. I understand the importance of natives. I am beginning to compost. I have acccepted the need for planning. AND-

I will accept Queen Anne's lace where I cannto get it out, but I certainly wouldn't try to organize it!

PS- the "thugs" I mentioned actually have turned out to be Michigan natves- most of them!-- Whic is good news for me. :-)
