I'm new to this list and have to say I'm surprised to read of so many people talking about using roundup as if it's just a normal thing to use in the garden. Round-up is a very dangerous substance. I'm not a scientist, but I know enough to believe it's not good to use at all, not to mention not to breathe in or most importantly to spray anywhere even remotely near vegetables, herbs and the like.

You certainly don't have to take my word for it. There's a documentary (it's been having trouble finding distribution in the US because it's something Monsanto would definitely prefer people not see). If you are gardening to produce organic food and are using round-up to kill your weeds, well, the expression "shooting yourself in the foot" definitely comes to mind...
