Probably skunk cabbage, a neat plant it likes moist soil and will even bloom. Once it dies down for the summer you'll understand the "skunk" part of the name. If that's what it is! Wish I had a spot where it would survive...eventually...

If memory serves it only smells after it dies down. I lost my 3 clumps of basjoo this year. In the 3 years they were in I never mulched, this winter was just too much for them though. I think there was not enough snow cover to insulate them. One of my clumps had 13 pups last year! Oh well, on to the next experiment! Good luck with yours!
