In the bottom pic the leaves may just be turning brown from lack of sunlight. It is common for lower leaves to fall off as the upper leaves shade them out.

The scars on top look like cracks that have healed over. Cracks can be caused by a dry spell followed by a lot of water causing the tomato to swell up and crack. The tomatoes are still edible. Just cut off the cracks.

The rain shouldn't be a problem with your plants in pots, as long as the pots have drainage. My potted tomatoes get drenched Every Day. Fertilize them well, plants in pots need more additional fertilizer, since they cannot draw it from their surroundings.

I would actually be more worried about not enough water rather than too much with potted plants.
