What is this taking over my creeping phlox??

I inherited a lovely creeping phlox bed from the previous owners of our home - young, new baby, didn't do any gardening for two years - I'm trying to play "catch-up" but in the meantime, this "stuff" has invaded the phlox bed. I've been diligent about pulling it out, and am quickly trying to jam more phlox in there to compete, but it might be good to know what it is. Maybe I should learn to like it...... I first thought some type of wild ginger, but now maybe ajuga??

Also, if I should continue to battle it, what do you suggest? I think by overwhelming it with phlox, and keeping them healthy I can crowd it out. It goes out into our lawn too, though.

Hi,
It is Glechoma hederacea better known as Creeping Charlie. It is annoying, but it is easy to rip out.

Thank you Remy. Having looked a bit more on the web with your identification, it would seem that some people may actually like and use the stuff as ground cover! Maybe I'll just be sure I put in a ton of phlox and then just keep Charlie under control.

AKA Ground Ivy...a real pain of a perennial weed to control once it spreads to shady areas in the lawn, but can also adapt to sunnier areas too. They and root and spread by stem nodes and underground rhizomes. They belong to the Lamiaceae (Mint)family. Actually is one of the toughest lawn weeds to control.
