I have no suggestions on how to control but a word of caution. If your dogs start sneezing and have drippy noses you might want to check the nose for the cheatgrass stem. I have had both dogs and cats run a stem or seed cluster up their nose. The way the seeds fan out makes it almost impossible for the babies to remove by sneezing and for some reason the stems do not seem to rot in the nasal cavity.

two years ago, i missed one on my brittany's foot, and only discovered it when she developed a blood-blister. with warm soaks and massaging from her elbow down, we got it out (what a mess).

at this point, i'm tempted to take my chances with county ordinances and "accidently" set the back of the lot on fire--LOL.
