Poison ivy grew up the side of the ice house before we moved here 30 years ago. The vines are long dead (still clinging to the stone wall), but as of about ten years ago the roots were still potent. I know this because I knelt and dug in the dirt then, using a trowel, and without realizing got the oil all over my face. Bad result!

Anyway, now I'd like to move the plants I put in ten years ago and dig a deeper hole to plant a climbing rose. Needless to say, I'm approaching this project with great caution. Other than not kneeling this time, and wearing long pants, do you have any advice for me? I'll understand if you tell me to find another spot for the rose. :-)
