Growing Tomatoes

Bottom rot on Tomatoes

This is my second year to grow tomatoes and 80% of my ripe ones have a rotten spot on the bottom. The rest of the tomato looks good. Last years were perfect and did not have this problem. This year I planted the same variety which are big boy, beefmaster and roma. All have this problem with the roma's being the worst. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is a link to many of the discussions currently running here on blossom end rot (BER). You'll find several others just a bit further down the page from your post.

The unusual weather this year has caused the problem for many and of course romas are especially prone to it. But as the plant matures and the weather cooperates a bit, the problem goes away. Mulching your plants to help stabilizes moisture levels in the soil and avoiding over-watering can be of great benefit.
