Weed ID Please

Newbie to forum. Thanks!!! Need some id'ing a weed in my yard. Just purchased this home and not sure what type of weed this is and what can be used to kill it without harming my St Augustine Grass. Very extensive root system and difficult to pull out by hand. Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated. Live in NE Fl and not sure what to use since it's the hot season.

This has been showing up a lot on this forum. Looks like Kummerowia striata (aka Lespedeza striata), Japanese clover.

Thank you. I think your spot on. Been trying to id this for awhile. From what i have been told... the prior owners have not kept up w/ watering and mowing. Looks like i have some work to do before i can relax. Pulling by hand is a pain however not trying to kill the grass as i only have small patches of this stuff. Doing some searching online looks like best is to work on the grass i have to prevent this from coming. Looks like the fingernails will be dirty for awhile. Thanks!!
