Some people consider Creeping Jenny, "Lysimachia nummularia", a desireable plant in the garden while others think it a "weed". I would be less concerned about its spreading by seed than by stem rooting and as long as you can control the outward growth it can be, fairly, easily kept in bounds. Many people, including P. Allen Smith, grow it in pots and do not appear to have a problem with it spreading where they do not want it to grow.

Ironically I was JUST about to write a post about Creeping Jenny and how to get rid of it! I planted it a few years ago in a bed that I eventually decided I wanted Iris in. The Iris were beautiful the first couple of years...until the @#$%& Jenny grew all over it. Iris cannot be unexposed at the top of the rhizome, and as a result they were infested with borers this year. Now I'm going to remake the bed - took out all the iris, bleached to kill borers, and want to kill the @#$%& Jenny before I replant them. But I tried just digging it up and find the roots are impossible to get out. Any ideas on how I can completely eradicate this mistake? Will Roundup get all the roots?

I also have a courtyard area that has been taken over by creeping jenny. It's become entwined in my Shasta Daisies, azaleas, iris, etc. I can't use round up because of the close proximity of the other plants. Is there anything I can do other than getting in there with a hoe and dig, dig, dig??? If you are considering plant - be forewarned. Invasive doesn't even scratch the surface!

When digging the roots out is not an option then keeping the top growth, the green leaves, cut off will, eventually, cause them to die. Cutting the leaves will over time deprive the roots of the nutrients they need to stay alive.

HOW CAN I GET RID OF THIS VERY INVASIVE WEED THAT WANTS TO TAKE OVER MY LAWN? DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT TREATING IT WITH A MIXTURE CONTAINING BORAX?

Does anyone know of a way to get Creeping Jenny out of your lawn??? It is horrible and takes over everything. I don't want to use Roundup though.
