Hello, between my neigbors driveway, there is a row of 5 trees, when they moved in they decided to lay river rock underneath these trees in the buffer area between the driveways. What they did wrong was that they put down the wrong weed barrier. The one they used was meant for flower beds. Fast forward 10 years, the weeds are out of control. I have offered to help them by laying heavy duty contractor bags over the stones to smother the weeds. How long should I leave these on?

This is just a short term fix. She plans to have the trees removed and interlock the area. But for now we want to deal with weeds.
